#SessionNote # Session 4 ## A Plan is Hatched There's some quick talk of baiting. Using the jewels to get [[2. The Motherlode|The Motherlode]] out is a no brainer. But [[Cadoperious (Caddy) Shortstout|Caddy]] says what the audience is thinking. What can we do with all these red barrels?! Conversations and investigations abound as your DM frantically looks up the stats on how much damage gunpowder does by weight because he didn't think you'd actually ***touch the red barrels*** (though he's so glad you did). You find this [[Kobold Boomdust|Gunpowder]] is more refined than you thought it'd be. It also has some weird red flakes mixed in. Caddy picks up one of the flakes and finds it's actually hot. Some investigation happens. [[Lyta of the Embereye|Lyta]] accidentally snorts some, nuking any sinus issues she was having... [[Janis Hoplin|Janis]] and [[Jacob Hargrave|Jacob]] think they may be scales. Nature knowledge is dropped with a natural 20 as [[Miralith Stormhoof|Miralith]] confirms they are, indeed, the ground up scales of a red dragon. She also accurately points out their inherent monetary value. A little back and forth on just how much of the untested explosive to use, you settle on about 3 kegs worth. Some more conversation about just how to set it off and a lot of back and forth about no one being good at firing an arrow. Hard cut to Miralith producing flame. ## The Plan is Ruined? The trap is set! The barrel is in place and treasure is laid out to lure out The Motherlode. What shows up? A bunch of those smaller tetrahedrooze shits. * They go after the treasure! * You fight and to stop them from going after the treasure! * Grey Oozes show up! Those opportunistic jerks... * Tetrahedroozes engulf treasure * You pick up treasure to stop the tetrahedroozes * Then a fucking Xorn crashes through the doors to an area you haven't explored * The Motherlode shows up to check out all the commotion * it doesn't find any treasure and is unimpressed, it dips out * You handle business! * tetrahedroozes are down * Xorn is down * Grey oozes are down * Treasure is thrown back out ## Boom Goes the Dynamite The Motherlode plorps out of the acid and engulfs treasure. Before dipping away from the barrel, Caddy and Janis dropped a bunch of coin and treasure right in there. As he was backing away, Caddy grabs some handfuls of gunpowder and snakes a trail from the barrel to the rest of the group massing in the office. **The Motherlode engulfs the treasure and the barrel.** Miralith ignites the gunpower trail. The makeshift fuse snakes across the ground and stops where it meets the gargantuan ooze. In a split second of panic, it looks like the gunpowder snuffs out. But you see the chain reaction of the slowly spreading engulfed powder ignite in the ooze as it trails to the barrel and detonates. A massive explosion blooms inside the Motherlode launching a concussive wave that doesn't manage to topple the party because it started inside the ooze. ## Fat Loots The damage to The Motherlode was catastrophic. So much so the party was unable to harvest the monster's magical essence. But they were able to get the following: * 3 Gooey Wishbones * 6 Membranes You also looted a set of [[Goo-Luck Dice]]! ## Aftermath The battle over is over. The Motherlode dissolves in a gooey mess releasing coins and jewels totaling to 17,900 gold. You remember finding a ledger in another room written in goblin. But recognize the number 16,400. The assumption is made that 16,400 is the amount of treasure the monster stole from the goblin workers. Meaning your 10% cut would be 1,640 gold. Decision is made to pocket the difference the extra 1,500 gold worth of treasure and not report it to the goblins.
